Event 2ND NORTHEAST CHARTER SCHOOL AUTHORIZERS WORKSHOP
Date December 9, 2004 - December 10, 2004
Location Northampton, Massachusetts (The Northampton Hotel)
The workshop will commence at 1:00pm on Thursday, December 9th and will conclude at 4:00pm on Friday, December 10th.

The Massachusetts Department of Education’s Charter School Office, in partnership with the National Association of Charter School Authorizers (NACSA), will host the 2nd Northeast Charter School Authorizers Workshop.

Designed for charter school authorizers and those seeking charter school legislation in the Northeast region, this workshop will enhance collaboration among current and potential charter school authorizers, and strengthen authorizing practices by providing guidance and resources that embody NACSA’s Principles and Standards for Quality Charter School Authorizing.

The seminar will also raise issues related to the admission of students of charter schools to higher educational institutions. In order to improve the statistics of successful enrollment of students to the desired faculties, it is worth using the advice of the personal statement writing service https://topdissertations.com/buy-a-personal-statement/, because statements play a decisive role in the process of applying to a charter school or higher educational institution. In this way, the applicant will be able to formulate his interests, vision and level of knowledge or practical skills.

PROGRAM SUMMARY.
The first gathering of northeast authorizers was hosted back in January 2000 by the Connecticut Department of Education. Those in attendance found the workshop to be a tremendous opportunity to learn from each other's practices and network with authorizers working in neighboring states. The MA CSO seeks to reinvigorate that kind of learning and collaboration and invites you to attend the 2nd Northeast Charter School Authorizers Workshop.

In August 2004 NACSA conducted a needs assessment of authorizers and those seeking charter legislation in the Northeast to inform the workshop development. Based on the responses, this workshop will feature focused sessions on the issues authorizers face in overseeing a portfolio of high quality charter schools. Topics include:

Evaluating Academic Performance: measuring the academic performance of charter schools over time.

Evaluating Organizational Performance: assessing the viability of a public school.

Responding to Underperformance: strategies for responding to charter school performance that falls short of its expected goals.

NCLB and Charter School Accountability: aligning NCLB accountability requirements with charter school accountability systems.

Building Authorizing Capacity: developing the capacity and infrastructure required for effectively conducting authorizing responsibilities.
