The NACSA Annual Conference is the premier venue for charter school authorizers and other education leaders who recognize the importance of authorizing to the success of the charter school movement. This years Annual Conference will bring together several hundred charter school authorizers and other education leaders interested in charter school issues. Keynote Speaker, Plenaries, and Sessions

NACSA is pleased to announce that Geoffrey Canada, CEO of Harlem Childrens Zone, will deliver the keynote address at this year's Annual Conference. A much sought-after speaker, Mr. Canada enjoys a national reputation as both an advocate for and expert on issues concerning violence, children and community redevelopment.
Based on member feedback from the online conference content survey, the NACSA Ad-Hoc Conference Committee and NACSA staff are working hard to develop highly interactive and practice-oriented sessions including the following plenary topics:
· Charter Schools and Results: No Excuses, Some Excuses or Status Quo?
· Authorizers and Oversight: Where is the Line Between Effective Accountability and Intrusive Regulation?

The conference will begin at 8:30 am (Eastern Time) on Monday, October 25, and will end at 4:30 pm (Eastern) on Tuesday, October 26. This years two-day meeting features many highly interactive and practice-oriented workshops and discussion roundtables focused on issues of interest and importance to charter authorizers and others dedicated to advancing charter schools.
NACSA's Annual Membership Meeting will take place at breakfast time on Tuesday (8:00 - 8:45 am) in Salon 10 on the mezzanine floor of the Wyndham. Among the agenda items will be an election to fill the vacancies of those board members whose terms expire in the 2004-05 year. Join us as well in the same location for a Membership Forum beginning at 3:30 pm on Tuesday for an informal and open discussion of professional issues of interest.
